Three Wishes (Standalone Novels, #1)

Liane Moriarty's "Three Wishes" follows the Kettle triplets - Cat, Lyn, and Gemma. The story starts with a dramatic incident on their 34th birthday and then explores the events in their lives leading up to it. Cat's perfect marriage unravels when her husband confesses to cheating. Lyn, the sensible twin, faces unexpected challenges, and Gemma, the indecisive sister, is forced to choose her relationship with Charlie.

The Last Anniversary (Standalone Novels, #2)

The beginning of the book sets up a promising plot with Sophie inheriting a house from someone she barely knew. However, Thomas, her ex-boyfriend, has a minimal role in the plot after this. The slow reveal of why Connie left her house to a stranger intrigues readers. The Munro baby mystery adds another layer to the story, but the connection between Sophie inheriting the house and the mystery needs to be well-established. There needs to be more continuity between these events, making them seem independent.

The story becomes intriguing when it finally gets to the Munro baby incident. However, the mystery takes too long to unfold, leading to a major disappointment after a prolonged anticipation. If the story had not been stretched out, I would have appreciated it more. Trimming down the sub-plots and focusing on the main storyline would have made the Munro mystery easier. The revelations about Rose being Enigma's mother were heart-wrenching, but the build-up to the truth should have been shorter to create a more impactful reading experience.

The book goes beyond the main plotline, but I found Sophie's romantic storyline disappointing. The anticipation of meeting a perfect man led to frustration when she only had eyes for a married man. The lack of character development left me unsatisfied, as Sophie remained the same by the end.

What Alice Forgot (Standalone Novels, #3)

Alice wakes up believing she is a 29-year-old happily married newlywed expecting her first child. She soon discovers that she is a 39-year-old soon-to-be divorced mother of three, estranged from her husband, best friend, and sister. She must deal with the amnesia that caused her to forget the last ten years of her life and discover what she has forgotten.

The Hypnotist's Love Story (Standalone Novels, #4)

It tells the story of Ellen O'Farrell, a hypnotherapist who becomes involved with a widower who is being stalked by his ex-girlfriend Saskia, with whom he and his son Jake lived for three years. This is Moriarty's fourth novel.

The Husband's Secret (Standalone Novels, #5)

The novel is set in Sydney, Australia. Cecilia Fitzpatrick is a happily married mother of three who seems to have a perfect life. Meanwhile, Tess O'Leary is a career woman who returns to Sydney with her son after her husband, Will, confesses that he is in love with her cousin and best friend, Felicity. Tess' son and Cecilia's children attend the same school, where Tess' ex-boyfriend, Connor Whitby, works as a PE teacher. Rachel Crowley, the school secretary, suspects that Connor is the man responsible for the unsolved murder of her daughter that still haunts her almost three decades later.

One day, when Cecilia's husband, John-Paul, is away, she finds a letter from him to be opened only in the event of his death. Despite the instructions, Cecilia opens the letter, and the devastating secret she discovers has massive consequences for her and the other women.

Big Little Lies (Standalone Novels, #6)

A single mother, Jane is taking her son Ziggy to his first day at Pirriwee Public School in Sydney. She meets Madeline and Celeste on the way, who also send their children to school. They become friends, each dealing with their issues: Madeline's daughter is bonding with her ex-husband's new wife, Celeste is abused by her husband, and Jane is raising Ziggy alone after being raped. Additionally, Ziggy is accused of bullying a classmate during orientation.

As months pass, Jane, Celeste, and Madeline become close. Jane confides that Ziggy was conceived through rape by a man named Saxon Banks when she was 19. Celeste and Madeline realize Banks is Perry's cousin but keep it from Jane. Meanwhile, Celeste's marriage becomes more violent, leading her to see a counselor and secretly rent an apartment. Ziggy is accused of bullying Amabella again but denies it. Jane discovers that Ziggy knows who is hurting Amabella and persuades him to reveal it's Max, one of Celeste's twins, but she hesitates to tell Celeste.

On Trivia Night, Josh tells Celeste that Max is the bully, not Ziggy. Celeste realizes Max is mimicking Perry's behavior and decides to leave him. Perry finds out about Celeste's apartment, and despite a heated argument, they still attend Trivia Night.

Once they reach the school, Jane sees Perry and realizes that he is, in fact, the man who raped her and confronts him in front of Madeline and Celeste. Celeste recalls Perry's childhood stories, in which he used his cousin's name to avoid trouble for himself. Perry admits to raping Jane but shows no remorse. In the ensuing argument between them, Perry hits Celeste. Enraged by what she has witnessed, Bonnie pushes him, and he falls from the balcony to his death.

In the aftermath of the fall, Madeline finds out that Bonnie's father was abusive, and seeing Perry's violence brings back memories of witnessing her father beat her mother. Everybody on the balcony decides to lie to protect Bonnie, but she turns herself in. She was convicted of accidental manslaughter and sentenced to 200 hours of community service. A year after Perry's death, Celeste works in a family law firm and sets up a trust fund for Ziggy. She speaks publicly about her abusive relationship, starting her speech with: "This can happen to anyone."

Truly Madly Guilty (Standalone Novels, #7)

Shortly after the book's release, it was announced that Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman had acquired the film rights. At that time, Witherspoon and Kidman were already working on a television miniseries adaptation of Moriarty's earlier novel, Big Little Lies.

Nine Perfect Strangers (Standalone Novels, #8)
